Gray, brown and white long-tailed pheasant with crested and red-cheeked skin. Male has largely of its pale gray cloak, top of light gray neck, the upper parts are dark gray. The female is smaller, a little duller and more strongly marked.

Found in the western Himalayas of northern Pakistan, through Kashmir in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, India, and from east to central Nepal.
